Cast Bios
Gaye Pierson (Penelope Sycamore): Gaye is no stranger to the ACT stage. She has been on stage in
Cash on Delivery, Musical Comedy Murders of 1940,
Once Upon A Mattress, and Nunsense. She is the owner of The Ankeny Pet Salon.
Becky Plager (Essie): This is Becky's third year with ACT. She has appeared in
Bedful of Foreigners, Harvey, and Cash on Delivery. As she is not independently wealthy, she has sought employment with Wireless Facilities, Inc. currently located in West Des Moines. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her two teenagers, Robert and Angela, country dancing, biking, working in the yard and horseback riding.
Allyson Stroud Allen (Rheba): Even though this is Allyson's ACT debut, she is no stranger to the stage. She spent three years performing historical outdoor drama in North Carolina and was on their Executive Board for four years. She has had 12 years of dance training and has competed in many competitions. Allyson lives in Ankeny and works at Stoeker Farms in Ames. She is currently making wedding plans for her upcoming marriage to Eric T. Perry this coming September.
Tim Clark (Paul Sycamore): Tim first appeared in You Can't Take It
With You over 17 years ago as Grandpa, mainly because he was the only freshman who could grow a beard! He was last seen on the ACT stage as Lurvy in
Charlotte's Web. Tim has loved theatre since childhood. He enjoys developing his characters and breathing life into each role. In his spare time, he enjoys gardening, dancing and hanging out with his friends and two dogs.
Troy De Stigter (Mr. De Pinna): Troy has performed with ACT in several productios which include:
Towards Zero, Bad Seed, Arms and the Man, and
Silver Whistle. Troy is employed with American Republic Insurance Company. He also enjoys collecting music records. Troy performed in
You Can't Take It With You in high school as one of the three men. He has aged gracefully enough to now graduate into the role of Mr. De
Pinna.
Joshua Feickert (Ed): ACT says goodbye to Joshua. This begins his third and final performance on the ACT stage. He was last seen as Wilber in
Charlotte's Web. He recently auditioned for The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. ACT wished him all the luck and a broken leg.
Wayne Pierson (Donald): Wayne has been involved in many ACT productions, including directing
Little Shop of Horrors, Once Upon A Mattress, and
Bedful of Foreigners. Last spring he was on stage in Cash
on Delivery. He is the Training Officer at the Iowa Veterans Home.
Larry Eisenhauer (Martin Vanderhof): Larry last appeared in
ACT's production of The Sunshine Boys. He appeared as Paul Sycamore in the 1981 ACT production of
You Can't Take It With You. Other shows include Arsenic and Old
Lace, The Fantasticks, The Foreigner, and George Washington Slept
Here. Larry is a judge in Polk County.
Carissa DeVos (Alice): Carissa is currently the Assistant General Merchandise Manager at Ames
Hy-Vee. Carissa made her ACT debut during last year's show Cash on
Delivery. She is excited to take on the role of Alice. During her spare time, she goes dancing, traveling, and shopping. Other interests include skiing, modeling, working out, and going out with friends.
Monte Engh (Henderson): This is Monte's third show with ACT. He first appeared in
Bedful of Foreigners and then appeared in Harvey. By day, Monte coordinates, repairs and does maintenance for Kum & Go Convenience Stores. In his spare time, he and his wife, Vicki, follow their sons to whatever sporting event is in season.
Pete Panada (Tony Kirby): This is Pete's first appearance on the ACT stage as well as any theatrical stage. He is a member of the country band, Southern Wind, where he plays guitar, bass and sings. He and his wife, Tammy, have a 2 1/2 year old daughter.
Randy Dunwoody (Boris Kolenkhov): This is Randy's ninth production with ACT. He has played a variety of roles. He has been everything from a rat to a Russian. Randy is the Applications Project Leader for the Des Moines Public Schools. Randy is involved in the Drama Ministries at his church. He enjoys reading mysteries and looking for
'treasures' at flea markets and antique shows.
Jo Reid (Gay Wellington): Jo is an ACT veteran both on and off stage. She has filled roles from acting, directing, choreography, stage crew, bubble blower and a man-eating plant. She directs and performs in
ACT's musical group, ACT II.
Doug Arterburn (Mr. Kirby): Doug is happy to have finally landed a "respectable" part. In
Bell, Book and Candle and Cash on Delivery, Doug played characters who were just a little tipsy by the end of the play. Mostly,
he's just happy to have found a place to hide out while his wife and daughter complete June wedding arrangements.
Kathryn Bisbey (Mrs. Kirby): After a year off from acting,
Kathryn's enjoying being back on stage again. Some of her favorite roles are Lucy in
You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown, Sister Mary Amnesia in Nunsense, and Audrey in
Little Shop of Horrors. Kathryn works in Insurance Sales for Seabury and Smith. She is the Praise Music Director for the Praise team at her church. Kathryn thinks the best part of working with ACT is the people.
'We are all like a big family.'
Scott Arterburn (Jim): Scott first appeared with ACT in 1992 as a munchkin in
Wizard of Oz. During the last two years, he has been our 'bit
part' man - playing all the short nonspeaking parts that no one else wanted from being Harvey in
Harvey, Cash on Delivery's wild washing machine, a fireman in
The Best Christmas Pageant Ever and a judge/photographer in
Charlotte's Web. He's coming up in the world as he actually has a speaking part in this show! Scott is a junior at Ankeny High School. He is a member of the Ankeny Tennis Team. He enjoys golfing and playing tennis in his free time.
Jerry Reid (Mac): Jerry is more recognizable for his off stage roles than on. He has served as Board President, house manager, stage manager and technical director for several shows. He performs in ACT's musical group, ACT II.
Jan DeHoet (Olga): Jan has played everything from Dolly Levi to Mary Magdaline. Her all-time favorite role was Truvey in
Steel Magnolia's. Jan lives in Ankeny and works at Menards.
Kevin Sprague (Director): Kevin has acted in, produced, and directed many ACT productions since his 1993 appearance in
I Remember Mama. He is currently President Elect on the ACT board. Kevin is an anesthesia veterinary technician with ISU's Veterinary Teaching Hospital. His hobbies include reading, fishing, gardening and being at the theatre.
